| No Comment”Futbol”, not American football, will be the first sporting event held at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Only July 19th, a CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer quarterfinal double-header will be played in Arlington. The Gold Cup is a 12 country bi-ennial tournament which crowns the soccer champions of North and Central America as well as Caribbean countries.
“Our first sporting event ever in our new building will be the Gold Cup quarterfinals and we’ll have four teams that will come in and play on July 19th,” said Charlotte Anderson, Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President. “It’s all of the North American, Central American, and Caribbean national teams. We don’t know which teams specifically will be here yet because it’s a tournament and the countries have to win and advance through the tournament all the way to the quarterfinals. I think it’s great because it’s our first big international event to hold here. We’ve always said that this is an international facility and this proves that we can accommodate these types of events.
