Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten and his wife, Michelle, have dedicated countless hours and money to their charitable S.C.O.R.E. Foundation which helps families victimized by domestic violence. On April 3rd, they were rewarded for their hard work and recognized by the league, receiving a $20,000 NFL charities grant. The Witten’s will put that money directly to use in Arlington.

Jason and Michelle are using the grant money to fund a male mentor, called a “SCOREkeeper” for the staff of the Arlington Safe Haven shelter. The shelter’s first mentor, Willie Burton, is a 55 year old substitute teacher at Arlington Bowie High School who is working on his master’s degree at UT-Arlington so that he may become a substance abuse counselor. Burton works at the shelter five nights a week, 3:30pm-9pm and every other Saturday. He is a positive male role model for children at the shelter.
