To apply epoxy paint on your garage floor is not such a hard task. There are several simple rules you should follow and you can achieve this. The total process can be divided in to four main parts. Etching the concrete is the first thing you will have to do when starting with the work. It’s a little step that will help you prepare your floor for the epoxy paint. One should also clean the floor before applying the coating.
One thing that helps with adhesion of epoxy paint is the cleaning and etching, the more you do it, the rougher the floor is. Another step is very important, and that is to check is there any moisture present on the floor. You have to make sure to seal the concrete so that your floor doesn’t have any moisture or you will lower the quality of your epoxy coating.
Sealing also helps in bonding the floor with the epoxy coating. And now you are free to to apply the epoxy paint. A roller, brush or even a spray will be suitable for this. In case you have a damp garage floor, you can’t expect that the epoxy paint will bond the way it should.
The last and the final step is applying of the topcoat. Applying the topcoat to the epoxy floor is very necessary. One should never avoid applying of the top coat if best results of the epoxy coating are wanted.
