| No CommentIf you’re a blogger, chances are you’re not getting the all important search engine traffic you could. Don’t worry, most other bloggers don’t either because they don’t understand how search engines work and how important it is for their blogs to rank high for their chosen keywords. Failing to bring in targeted traffic is one reason many bloggers stop trying to make money online and go off doing something else.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. All it takes is just 3 simple steps. By doing these three steps all the time, you can increase visitors which can make the difference in a blog that creates the blogger very little income or a blog that is an instrument for additional income.
Here are a few simple tips to search engine optimize every post you write and start taking advantage of free Internet search engine traffic.
To start with, you should make certain your article url’s are search engine compatible. If you use a free blog service like Blogger, this is automatically done for you. If you’re a WordPress user, then you’ll need to set your url structure so that blog creates SEO friendly url’s when you post an article.
The way you do this in WordPress is to click on the Permalinks tab, and check the button along side the Custom field. Next you’ll put a percentage sign followed by the words Postname. {Immediately after the words postname, Now} add another percentage sign. You’ve now ensured that all your post will have optimized urls.
Next, your main keyword should be in the Title of the blog. Let’s say you’re blogging about how to make fast money, then make these keywords the Title of your blog. If your blog is about Dogs, then don’t use something unrelated like your name in the title unless you also have the word Dog in there also. Using the keywords in the Title, then you’ll rank higher than if you name it Johns Blog.
Your next step is to use the keywords in your Post’s title. If you’re trying to get people to come to your post about online auctions to earn money, then put the keywords in the post title. Not irrelevant keywords like How I Make Money With Auctions. Doing this prevents the search engine bots from figuring out what your post is about and the search engine traffic you need won’t appear. If you’re blog is monetized with Adsense, this tip will increase traffic while showing the highest paying ads for an increase in the pay per click you receive.
These three tips will be letting the Search Engines determine what your post is about. By taking a little extra time and making it easy for the search engines to determine what your post and blog are about, they’ll rank your post higher in their listings.
Now to fully take advantage of all this optimizing, you’ll need to build links to each post. Ahh, but link building is a whole nother article that has to be saved for later. Get used to optimizing your blog and blog post before tackling the chore of building links to your site.
